2025 Summer Travel
From Central America to Africa, Europe, South America and more, here's a look at all the incredible places our students journeyed to in Summer 2025!
Greece
Kicking off the adventurous summer, our Middle School elective Traveling Sun Devils left for Greece on June 3. Led by Mr. Eddie Lopez and Ms. Aniele Hawkins, this elective spent last school year exploring historical and modern Grecian culture—everything from architecture and artwork to history, geography, food, music and more!
Along with Mr. Lopez and Ms. Hawkins, Ms. Tatiana McKinney-Stokes joined students on their summer adventure as they traveled to the places they studied. Over nine days, the group explored Delphi, Athens, Olympia, Corinth and more—visiting various Greek landmarks like the Acropolis and the Temple of Poseidon. They also spent a day on a Saronic Islands cruise.
France
After welcoming students from France to our school in January 2025, Kent Denver students had the opportunity to visit France in June 2025 as part of our French exchange program.
Led by chaperones Mr. Matt Bentley and Ms. Claude Djeubou, students spent the 13-day trip immersing themselves in French culture while living with a family in Nantes, France and exploring Paris.

Led this year by chaperones Mr. James Covi and Ms. Christina Fakharzadeh, the group helped the local community build a school before exploring the wonders of the country—swimming in a natural hot spring, visiting Maasai Market for local crafts and souvenirs, and going on a safari into one of Tanzania’s most iconic game parks.

As part of the Middle School elective program, students in REEFS spent the school year learning about ocean ecology, marine survey methods and increasing their dive skills through scuba specialty courses.
From June 7-14, students traveled to Belize City, Belize, where they lived aboard the Belize Aggressor III. Led by chaperones Mr. Steve Newman and Ms. Katherine Nelson, the group participated in marine research projects, completed roughly 24 dives—including night dives—and transformed from recreational divers into marine citizen scientists.
Galapagos Islands
Over eight days this summer, Kent Denver students had a once-in-a-lifetime adventure exploring one of the most bio-diverse areas of the world—Ecuador and the Galapagos Islands.
Led by Ms. Melanie Haas and Dr. Sam Gubitz, the group visited Mitad de Mundo, stood on the middle of the world, snorkeled at Concha Perla, hiked the Sierra Negra Volcano and learned how to properly identify volcanic rock.

For 12 days at the end of June, students traveled to Micronesia with Ms. Wendy Daniel and Mr. Adrian Barnes. In July, students spent a week in Caraçao with Ms. Daniel and Ms. Molly Callaway. During both trips, students enjoyed open-water dives and discovering the history and culture of their locations.
