Tennis Takes 2nd at State, Soccer Continues Playoff Push

Tennis Takes 2nd at State, Soccer Continues Playoff Push

The girls tennis team had another impressive state run this year, finishing runner-up in the CHSAA 4A Team State Tournament on Tuesday! This is the third time in three years our Sun Devils have played in the championship match, earning the title in 2024 and taking second place last year—each time against Cheyenne Mountain.

The team also saw success at the individual state tournament in Pueblo last week, with Sofia ’26 and Drea ’29 winning No. 3 Doubles! Nora ’27 (No. 2 Singles) and Arwen ’27 and Sofia ’26 (No. 2 Doubles) finished state runner-up, while Dylan ’29 (No. 3 Singles), Hallie ’26 and Claire ’27 (No. 1 Doubles) and Maddie ’27 and Lily ’29 (No. 4 Doubles) all took third. Congratulations to the entire team for a fantastic season!

Our No. 1-seed girls soccer team is marching toward state, having shut out each playoff opponent so far—10-0 (KIPP Denver and Alamosa) and 6-0 (Delta). The Sun Devils take on No. 5 Jefferson Academy in the semifinals Thursday at 5 p.m. at UNC-Jackson Stadium in Greeley. A win would send the team to the CHSAA 3A State Tournament at Weidner Field in Colorado Springs on Tuesday, May 19. Good luck, Sun Devils!

Read below for updates from baseball, our state-bound girls golf team, girls lacrosse and track and field, which started its state meet Thursday.

Baseball
Kent Denver baseball is heading into CHSAA’s 3A Regional Tournament ranked No. 21, coming off a 12-10 season. The team will face No. 12 Alamosa on Saturday at 12:30 p.m. at The Classical Academy.

Girls Golf
The girls golf team has punched its ticket to the 2A State Championship, happening Monday, May 18 and Tuesday, May 19 at Lone Tree Golf Course. Please help us wish Hannah ’29, Kaia ’28, Reese ’28 and Sammy ’29 good luck as they compete for both individual and team awards!

Girls Lacrosse
Our girls lacrosse team ended the season with an amazing playoff run—making it to the semifinals of CHSAA’s 5A State Tournament for the first time in 10 years! The No. 6 Sun Devils upset No. 3 Heritage in the quarterfinals to earn their spot in the semis, where they fell to No. 2 Regis on Tuesday.

A huge congratulations to the entire team on a truly incredible season! The team went 13-5, with some big milestones this year. Goalkeeper Ruby ’26—who committed to play lacrosse at Connecticut College—ended her high school career with 326 saves, while Harper—who’s only a sophomore—has already surpassed 100 points!

Track and Field
The CHSAA 3A Track and Field State Championship is underway as of Thursday at JeffCo Stadium in Lakewood. We have 18 Sun Devils representing Kent Denver across 19 events! The action takes place through Saturday. More information about parking and tickets can be found on CHSAA’s website. Good luck to all of our student-athletes!
