Sun Devils Surge Forward in Winter Season

Sun Devils Surge Forward in Winter Season

Kent Denver Athletics finished 2025 on a high note and has carried that positive momentum into the new year. The defending state champion boys basketball team, currently ranked No. 6 in Class 4A at 8-3 overall, had a strong showing at the Titan-Raptor Classic this past week. Kent Denver went toe-to-toe with defending 6A champion Eaglecrest in a 3-point loss, while beating Arapahoe and Palmer. Reigning 4A Player of the Year Caleb ’26 is leading the way with an impressive 28 points per game.

The Kent Denver swim & dive team has been on a tear recently, turning in an excellent performance at the Rex Abelein Coaches Invitational December 19-20. The team took seventh place overall out of 54 teams and first among all 3A schools! A couple weeks later, the Sun Devils placed third in the Craven Classic at Cherry Creek High School. Our swimmers have also set three new school records! Hadley ’26 broke the school record in the 50 freestyle with a blistering time of 24.47 seconds, while Elsa ’28 set a new school mark of 58.97 seconds in the 100 backstroke. Elsa was also a member of the record-breaking 200 medley relay team that set a new top time of 1:49.61, along with Reese ’28, Camryn ’27 and Valerie ’29

In girls basketball, the Sun Devils are now 5-5 after having a four-game win streak snapped by Green Mountain Tuesday night. Washburn commit Austin ’26 is nearly averaging a double-double, with 15.6 points and 8.4 rebounds per game.

The Kent Denver ice hockey team is ranked No. 8 in Class 4A after a 3-1-2 start to the season. The Sun Devils are averaging 5.5 goals per game through six games—thanks in large part to an 11-0 win over Woodland Park and a 6-6 tie against Liberty in their two games before break. Tristin ’26 is leading the team with five goals overall.
