Students Discuss Fast Fashion on Global Stage

Students Discuss Fast Fashion on Global Stage

Two of our Independent Study students recently had the opportunity to share their projects on the international stage.

Sophomores Lucy and Ava, who worked with Sustainability and Innovation Specialist Molly Callaway on their Independent Studies, spent the year diving into sustainable fabrication, aiming to reduce future environmental damage from fast fashion while seeking innovative solutions to eliminate existing waste.

“The team is upcycling clothes—creating new, usable clothing from thrifted and discarded materials, thereby promoting sustainable consumption and production habits aligned with the UN Sustainable Development Goals,” explained Ms. Callaway.

The students shared their experience at an international forum last month, hosted by our partner school Chingshin Academy in Taiwan. Through their online presentation, Sustainable Design in Fashion and Sustainable Consumption Habits, our Sun Devils shared with other students around the world how they can take action to influence the environment.
