Student Art on Display

New student artwork is on display across Kent Denver's campus! The next time you visit, be sure to check out all the student work in the lobby of Anschutz Family Student Center for the Arts. Recent class projects include Book Transformations from Jon Fortmiller's Advanced Drawing class, which involved students taking a book and transforming it into a work of art through cutting, folding, painting, drawing, gluing and/or building. Lighted 3D Forms from Corky Dean's Sculpture I class are also on display in the Anschutz lobby. In this project, students were challenged to create large 3D forms using triangular and rectangular shapes with the goal of guiding the viewer's eye around all sides of the form, ending at a clear focal point.

Kent Denver's Gates Science Center also features a new art installation. Started by juniors Scarlett and Leighton in Mr. Dean's Sculpture II class last spring, students created a decoration for the science wing in the style of American sculptor Frank Stella. Scarlett and Leighton designed, cut and painted the pieces, while sophomores Liz and Charley, in Mr. Dean's Sculpture II class this year, did the layout, built the supports and finished the installation. You can find this piece hanging in the south entrance of Gates Science Center.
