Spring Sports Spotlight: Sun Devils Shine Across the Country

Spring Sports Spotlight: Sun Devils Shine Across the Country

Kent Denver’s varsity sports teams are back from spring break and back in action! Although, two teams got to travel AND compete during their time away from school.

Both varsity Sun Devils lacrosse teams enjoyed a trip to Southern California over the weeklong break. The No. 4 ranked girls lacrosse team won both of its West Coast games to improve to 5-1 on the season, while the boys lacrosse team split its two contests to move to 3-2 overall. Boys lacrosse plays its next game Thursday at Denver East at 7 p.m., while the girls team plays Friday at DeSo Field at 4:15 p.m. against ThunderRidge.

The girls soccer team is now 4-0 on the season after an impressive 10-0 victory earlier this week over The Academy—which featured a hat trick from Channing T. ’27, two goals a piece from Kyara O. ’27, Wynne B. ’25 and Ashley G. ’24 and a goal from Sophia G. ’27. The Sun Devils are ranked No. 5 in Class 3A and play again Thursday at 4:15 p.m. at St. Mary’s Academy.

The Kent Denver track and field team had its first meet of the season at All-City Stadium the Thursday before spring break. The boys finished 19th in their division, while the girls came in 15th. Many Sun Devils had great individual performances, highlighted by top 10 finishes from Anya P. ’24 (4th in the high jump), Molly Z. ’25 (4th in the 1600m race), Brevin L. ’24 (5th in the high jump), Elizabeth B. ’24 (5th in the 800m; 7th in the 3200m), Dylan K. ’26 (6th in the 100m), James G. ’24 (7th in the long jump) and Alex H. ’26 (8th in the 400m). See the full results here. The Sun Devils compete again Thursday at 4 p.m. at Englewood High School.

Our Sun Devils girls tennis team has won both of its two matches to start the season, including a 6-1 team victory over Peak to Peak earlier this week. Kent Denver plays again Thursday at home at 4 p.m. against Fairview High School.

The baseball team is 1-1 so far this season, with a big weekend ahead at the NoCo Baseball Classic tournament. The Sun Devils will play Friday against University and Bennett.

Girls golf competed earlier this week at the Broadlands Golf Course against fellow Metro League schools. Josee L. ’25 led the way with an impressive fifth-place individual finish! The team will return to competition on Monday, April 8

It’s an exciting time for all of Kent Denver's spring sports teams, especially now that we’re just over one week away from the Spring Showdown Series at Colorado Academy!
