Spring Sports Spotlight & Showdown Series Reminder

Winter sports have officially come to a close at Kent Denver, and the spring season is already flying by. We’re now just one month away from the Spring Showdown Series! Save the date for Friday, April 17 at Colorado Academy, and get ready for an action-packed slate featuring five varsity games between the Sun Devils and Mustangs in baseball, girls tennis, girls soccer, girls lacrosse and boys lacrosse. See the full schedule of events here

All seven Kent Denver varsity sports teams have now had at least one competition so far this season. Read updates from each team below, and join us in wishing good luck to our student rock climbers—Charley ’28 and Eli ’26—who will be competing this weekend in Eagle at the American Scholastic Climbing League National Championship!

Spring Sports Updates

Girls Golf
The Kent Denver girls golf team is off to a fantastic start this season—taking first place in its first two Metro League tournaments. The Sun Devils are back in action Thursday against Colorado Academy at the Foothills Golf Course.

Girls Lacrosse
Our girls lacrosse team is 3-1 on the year after wins over Evergreen and Arapahoe this past week. The Sun Devils are averaging nearly 11 goals a game thus far, with sophomore Harper netting 15 total through just four games.

Girls Soccer
Girls soccer is 3-2 on the season after a hard-fought 2-1 defeat Wednesday night against The Classical Academy. Seven Sun Devils have already scored at least 1 goal this year, with KyKy ’27 leading the team with 3.

Girls Tennis
One year after finishing as the state runner-up, the Kent Denver girls tennis team won its season-opening match on Tuesday by a score of 4-3 over Prospect Ridge Academy. The Sun Devils are playing again Thursday at 4 p.m. vs. St. Mary’s Academy at deKoevend Park.

Track & Field
The Kent Denver track and field team has started the year strong, with two successful meets so far! In the season-opening Thornton Early Bird meet last Wednesday, three Sun Devils won their events. Alex ’26—reigning state champion in the girls 100-meter hurdles—started 2026 with a win in that same event, while Penny ’28 (girls 800m run) and Linden ’28 (girls discus throw) took first place in their respective events. Reid ’26 took second place in the boys discus, and Scarlett ’27 placed third in the girls high jump.

This past Saturday, the Sun Devils had another great showing in the ThunderRidge Invitational against many of the top 5A schools in the state. Last year’s 3A state champion in the boys 110m hurdles, Solo ’26, took third in the event. Maddox ’27 also placed third in the boys 400m run, while Penny took fifth in the girls 800m race.

Baseball
The Kent Denver baseball team is 2-2 on the year so far. Levi ’27 is leading the team with 5 runs batted in. Ryan ’29 has added 4 RBI, while Vedder ’28 has 3 and is leading the team with a .500 batting average through four games. Kent Denver plays again Friday against Kennedy at 4 p.m. at Judd’s Field.
