Spring Showdown Series Next Week

Spring sports are in full swing at Kent Denver, and the Showdown Series is just around the corner! Join us next Friday, April 17 at Colorado Academy as we face off against the Mustangs in five varsity sports—baseball, girls tennis, girls soccer, girls lacrosse and boys lacrosse—starting at 3:30 p.m. See the full schedule of events.

Spring Sport Updates

baseball

Baseball
Kent Denver baseball has been on a tear, winning four of the last six games—three of which brought in more than 10 runs! Levi ’27 leads the team with 14 hits and 13 runs batted in, while Vedder ’28 boasts 10 stolen bases and 16 runs.

Sitting at 6-4, the Sun Devils look to add another win as they take the field again at home on Saturday at 11 a.m. versus The Academy.

Girls Golf
Our girls golf team has been dominating—consistently placing in the top three at each of its Metro League tournaments. At the March 30 match, captain Kaia ’28 finished first individually, shooting three over par and recording her first career eagle! The team placed third overall.

At the Broadlands Metro League Tournament on Tuesday, the team took second place, with Kaia finishing third, Sammy ’29 placing sixth and Reese ’28 taking 13th. The team’s next Metro League tournament is Tuesday, April 14 at Fox Hollow.

Boys Lacrosse
The Kent Denver boys lacrosse team is still fighting for its first win after playing several tough teams across Colorado, as well as California during the team’s spring break tournament. Kash ’28 is the team’s top scorer with seven goals, followed by Hadyn ’26 with five and Conor ’29 with four. Conor has pulled in five assists this season, followed by Kash with three.

The team’s next match is Friday against Cherry Creek on DeSo Field starting at 4:15 p.m.

Girls Lacrosse
Our girls lacrosse team is putting up big numbers against its opponents, with 16-3 and 16-9 wins over Castle View and Columbine most recently. Sophomore Harper leads the team in goals (22), assists (10) and shots on goal (38).

At 6-3 so far this season, the team next takes on Chatfield Senior High at Trailblazer Stadium on Tuesday, April 14 at 5 p.m.

Girls Soccer
On a four-game winning streak, the Kent Denver girls soccer team is 7-2 on the season and has won all four of its Metro League matchups so far. Six of the team’s seven wins have been shutouts, thanks to 9th-grade goalie CJ, who’s made 45 saves. Lexi ’27 has netted the most goals with eight, while Annika ’26 and Layla ’29 each have four. Olive ’29, KyKy ’27 and Hadley ’26 have four assists each.

The team’s next match is Tuesday, April 14 at Eagle Ridge Academy at 4:30 p.m.

Girls Tennis
Kent Denver’s varsity girls tennis team has won three of its four matches, sweeping both St. Mary’s Academy and Dawson School. The team is taking part in a two-day tournament hosted by Cherry Creek and Denver East Friday and Saturday.

Track & Field
Our track and field team has posted several top-3 finishes at its past three invitationals. At the Grandview Invite on March 28, Alex ’26 took top prize in both the girls 100- and 300-meter hurdles, while Linden ’28 (girls discus), Solo ’26 (boys 110m hurdles) and Maddox ’27 (boys 400m) all placed second. 

At the D’Evelyn Invite this past Saturday, Alex, again, took first place in the girls 300m hurdles, and Solo placed first in the boys 110m hurdles. We also had several second-place finishes—Alex (girls 200m), Penny ’28 (girls 800m) and Maddox (boys 400m), and Linden took third in girls shot put and discus. At the Valor Christian Invite that same day, Alex took second in girls 100m hurdles and Reid ’26 placed second in boys discus and tied for third in boys high jump.

The team is back in action Friday for the TJ Twilight Meet at All City Stadium in the morning and the Pomona Invitational at Jeffco Stadium in the afternoon.
