Robotics Teams Close Out an Amazing Season

Robotics Teams Close Out an Amazing Season

The four Kent Denver Upper School Robotics teams have had incredible seasons, culminating with the Colorado VEX V5 High School State Championships this past weekend. Three of the teams qualified for the Tournament, which is a high achievement given that Colorado is one of the most competitive states in the country for VEX robotics. Season highlights include:

  • The 3946E team placed 4th in the State out of a highly competitive pool of 36 teams.
  • In the skills stream of the State Tournament, the 3946S team placed 5th and the 3946W team placed 9th, meaning that both teams qualify for the World Championship that will take place in early May.
  • Outside of the State Tournament, the almost entirely female 3946A team won a design award early in the season and followed that up by making it to the final round of the Girl Powered STEM Spotlight Challenge, presented by Google, a competition aimed at highlighting how women are redefining the face of STEM.

Congratulations to all of our Robotics teams! Read more for a full State Championship recap and to see 3946A's video submission for the Girl Powered Challenge.

Girl Powered STEM Spotlight Challenge, presented by Google

The almost entirely female 3946A team of Anika S. ‘26, Delali G. ‘26, Kate M. ‘26, Xanthe R. ‘26, Harry A. ‘27, Marko M. ‘28 and Esrom E. ’28 responded to the challenge with a video that highlighted the women in STEM that inspire them. Check out the submission below:

In an environment where robotics and other STEM fields are often difficult to access as a girl, here's how our almost entirely female team overcomes these challenges, by taking inspiration and insight from our math teacher, Mrs. Miller, as well as Physicist Dr. Chien-Shiung Wu. Through their experiences, our team breaks barriers in STEM, proving that innovation knows no gender.
