Middle Schoolers Compete—and Win!—at Civics Bee

For the second year in a row, Kent Denver students competed at the Denver Metro Chamber of Commerce Civics Bee under the leadership of teacher Christina Fakharzadeh ‘94

After submitting 500-word essays proposing ideas to improve their communities, 20 local students were selected for yesterday’s competition—and 11 of these qualifiers were Kent Denver middle schoolers!

Four Sun Devils advanced to the finals, and two finished on the podium and qualified for the state competition. Congratulations to Emmy H. '29 for finishing in 1st place and Valerie W. '29 for taking 2nd. Emmy and Valerie won cash prizes of $2,500 and $1,000, respectively, and Kent Denver will receive equivalent grants from the Chamber of Commerce.
