Middle School Winter Sports Recap

Middle school athletes are wrapping up a successful winter season on Friday before pivoting to spring sports on Monday. Here are a few updates from the season! 

The Middle School basketball program had a standout year. Highlights include the 6th and 7th-grade boys teams going undefeated and the 7th-grade girls team finishing with a 7-1 record. Kent Denver’s 8th-grade girls were also undefeated this winter, finishing their three-year middle school journey with an impressive 29-1 record! Students in intramural basketball had a great season of skills development and fun in their temporary home at Goodson Recreation Center. They will wrap up their intrasquad championship tournament this week.

Off the court, middle schoolers found adventure and growth through outdoor ed, rock climbing, strength & performance, yoga, robotics and independent sports such as ice hockey, swimming and water polo. Middle schoolers also participated in theater games, a new offering where students worked on their imaginations, voices and movement to hone their improv skills and character development. 

"I'm proud of the efforts of all of our middle school students during the winter sports season and am looking forward to seeing them embrace even more learning opportunities and community-building moments this spring!" said Stephanie Kyser, Assistant Athletic Director.
