Middle School Speech & Debate Wraps Up Exciting Season

Middle School Speech & Debate Wraps Up Exciting Season

Kent Denver Middle School’s Competitive Speech and Debate elective has had an amazing semester, with two students going undefeated during their first-ever tournament! Congratulations to 8th graders Sophia and Norah for winning the Varsity Public Forum Debate at the STEM School Spring Invitational on April 10.

Several students also walked away with awards from Colorado Academy’s Mustang Invitational on May 1, including Violet ’30 (3rd Place, Original Oratory), Sophia and Norah (4th Place, Varsity Public Forum) and Maxwell ’31 and Hudson ’30 (5th Place, Varsity Public Forum).

In conjunction with the first-semester Introduction to Speech and Debate elective, these experiences gave students a taste of what Speech and Debate is like and prepared them to join the team when they move on to the Upper School.
