Kent Denver Celebrates Black History Month

Kent Denver Celebrates Black History Month

As February draws to a close, Kent Denver is highlighting all the ways we’ve celebrated Black History Month throughout our community.

In the latest installment of our Voices of Kent Denver video series, we featured students and faculty who participated in Denver’s Marade and shared the importance of celebrating the life and legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Watch the video, which touches on how embodying Dr. King’s values connects to Kent Denver’s core values.

Throughout the month, the screens around campus have displayed informative slides detailing the life of Carter G. Woodson and his role in establishing Black History Month 100 years ago. In the middle school, an interactive bulletin board gave students the opportunity to highlight Black figures who inspire them and share what Black History Month means to them. Middle school students also had the chance to meet with the Upper School’s Black Student Alliance during lunch on Wednesday to learn more about the club and connect across grade levels.

At Kent Denver, we bring diverse perspectives into classrooms and social spaces as part of our commitment to academic excellence throughout the year. Heritage and history months, like Black History Month, are invitations to remind ourselves of the stories and gifts our communities are built upon.
