Kent Denver Athletics Announces Summer Speed & Strength Training Hours
Kent Denver Athletics has officially announced its Summer 2025 hours for speed and strength training on campus. Upper School student-athletes at Kent Denver will have the opportunity to develop their agility, strength, explosiveness and overall sports performance over the summer with the help of experienced, dedicated coaches.
Our comprehensive and free on-campus summer programming will take place Monday-Thursday from June 9 to July 31 and consists of field work, weight training, and open gym time, as well as employee group training for members of Kent Denver’s faculty and staff. Basketball-specific training by Elite Speed will also be provided to rising Upper School girls and boys basketball players on Mondays and Wednesdays at an offsite location. On-Campus Speed & Strength Training Schedule
Start Date: June 9
End Date: July 31
Schedule: Monday-Thursday from 6-11:30 a.m.
*Campus Closed Thursday, June 19 for Juneteenth Holiday
6 a.m.
Employee Group Training—Upper School Gym
7 a.m.
Speed Field Work—Upper Fields
Grades 9-12
Areas of focus: Acceleration, Deceleration, Change of Direction, Max Velocity & Conditioning
8 a.m.
Weight Training—Upper School Gym
Grades 9-12
Sessions feature strength and hypertrophy training that will benefit a high school athlete looking to level up their performance in the offseason. Progressions and regressions will be made for all athletes with consideration of any current or past injuries.
9 a.m.
Employee Group Training—Upper School Gym
10-11:30 a.m.
Open Gym—Upper School Gym
Grades 9-12, Employees, Alumni (Classes of 2021-2025)
Upper School student-athletes, recent alumni and KDS faculty/staff are all welcome to come and do their own workouts during this time block. Coaches will be available to facilitate equipment usage, help with exercise technique, or run you through a workout if needed.
On-campus speed and strength training sessions will be led by Kent Denver Strength & Performance Coach Kelly McElhiney and University of Denver Sports Performance Fellow Zac Simon.
Off-Campus Basketball Training
Start Date: June 9
End Date: July 30
Schedule: Mondays and Wednesdays from 5-7 p.m.
