Keeping Families Active and Healthy Longer

Keeping Families Active and Healthy Longer

We were incredibly fortunate to welcome Dr. Jordan Metzl—a nationally recognized sports medicine physician, best-selling author and creator of the IronStrength workout—to campus on Monday! The action-packed day started with a great turnout for our morning community workout on DeSo Field, followed by assemblies with our Middle and Upper School students, meetings with Kent Denver coaches and a special evening presentation with parents.

Drawing from his research in sports medicine, as well as his experience as a high-level endurance athlete, Dr. Metzl dove into the science to demonstrate the power an active lifestyle has on long-term health and fitness. He also discussed data-driven best practices for families and young athletes around topics such as sports specialization, injury prevention, nutrition, peptides, high-intensity training and more.

“The ultimate goal is building athletes for life,” Dr. Metzl said in his presentation. “Being comfortable being uncomfortable is really important. We want to make sure your kids are empowered, you are empowered, and that you all are the best, most active versions of yourselves for years to come.”

Kent Denver parents and guardians can watch his full evening presentation in the Parent Portal.
