KDS Faculty/Staff Deepen Their Learning

KDS Faculty/Staff Deepen Their Learning

On Saturday, September 13, three members of Kent Denver’s faculty and staff—Science Department Chair Dr. Mary Fran Park, Chinese teacher Annick Chen and School Nurse Shreka Thomas—attended the 5th annual researchED conference at the Denver Museum of Nature & Science. The conference brings together K-12 educators and university researchers interested in applying research-based methods from psychology and neuroscience into the classroom.

Dr. Park was also one of the presenters at the conference, leading a session titled Neuromyth-busters: Teaching Smarter with Research-Informed Practices, which highlighted how brain science and social context inform equitable, student-centered instruction. Our three attendees look forward to applying what they learned in the classroom and sharing their experience with their respective departments.
