Girls Tennis Marches Through Postseason, Other Teams Make Playoff Push
Our defending state champion varsity girls tennis team is on a tear through both the individual and team postseason tournaments. Last Friday, the No. 1 ranked Sun Devils swept Grand Junction 7-0 in the quarterfinals of CHSAA’s 4A Team State Tournament. They will now play No. 5 Air Academy in the semifinals on Tuesday, May 6 at 3:30 p.m. at Kent Denver.
Then, Kent Denver followed that up with an impressive sweep through the individual regional tournament, as all seven classifications won their final matches earlier this morning to qualify for CHSAA’s 4A Individual State Tournament. Good luck to Lila Moldenhauer ’25 (No. 1 Singles), Victoria Strobos ’25 (No. 2 Singles), Ellie Strobos ’28 (No. 3 Singles), Annie Goldmanis ’25 and Nora Rapp ’27 (No. 1 Doubles), Claire Bookmyer ’27 and Sofia Begal ’26 (No. 2 Doubles), Samantha Brenner ’25 and Sofia Piña ’26 (No. 3 Doubles) and Margaux Lively ’25 and Hallie Silverman ’26 (No. 4 Doubles) at state!
Our No. 2 ranked girls soccer team is wrapping up its regular season this evening (Thursday) in a home game at 4 p.m. against Peak to Peak. The Sun Devils will aim to finish the season strong with a 13-2 overall record. Then, they will get ready for the CHSAA 3A State Tournament beginning next week!
Girls lacrosse also has its regular season finale this week, as Kent Denver takes on Cherry Creek tomorrow (Friday) night at 6 p.m. at the Stutler Bowl. The state tournament gets underway next week. Meanwhile, the boys lacrosse team concludes its regular season Friday night as well in a 5 p.m. road contest against Rock Canyon at Halftime Help Stadium.
The Kent Denver baseball team is now 10-8 on the season, with a home game coming up tonight (Thursday) at 4:15 p.m. against Denver Christian. The Sun Devils have four more games this regular season before regionals begin Saturday, May 17.
Our track & field team continues to have an excellent season, with three more meets before state. Our Kent Denver athletes compete next this Saturday, May 3 in a Metro League meet at 8 a.m. at North Stadium.
On Tuesday, May 6, starting at 12 p.m., the girls golf team has their last Metro League match on their home course at Glenmoor Country Club. Regionals get underway Monday, May 10 at the Lone Tree Golf Course.
Come show your support for our Sun Devil athletes as they play the final games of the regular season!
