Girls Basketball Caps Historic Season with 2nd-Place Finish

Girls Basketball Caps Historic Season with 2nd-Place Finish

This weekend, for the first time ever, the Kent Denver girls basketball team made it all the way to the state championship game. After an impressive 53-46 win over Timnath on Friday, the Sun Devils came up just short in a 52-46 loss against Holy Family on Saturday to finish as the state runner-up. It’s the best finish in program history.

Senior Austin Duncan, a Washburn commit, was unstoppable in Saturday’s title game—leading the Sun Devils with 27 points. She also had 15 points and 8 rebounds the day before in the Final Four victory, to go along with 13 points and 9 points from 9th-graders Elise Drogin-Tundermann and London Barry

After back-to-back Sweet 16 appearances the last two years, Coach Ann Abromaitis led the Sun Devils to the state championship game in just her third year with the program. Congratulations to the entire staff and all of our players on an incredible season!

Thank you to the entire Kent Denver community for cheering on both our girls and boys teams at the Denver Coliseum this past weekend, and for supporting all of our athletics teams throughout the year!
