Final Four Bound: Basketball Teams March On

Final Four Bound: Basketball Teams March On

Wednesday night was a special one for our Sun Devils at the Denver Coliseum! Both the girls and boys varsity basketball teams won their quarterfinal matchups to advance to the Class 4A Final Four on Friday, March 13.

The Kent Denver girls took the court first Wednesday, going on a huge second-quarter run to build a big lead and eventually capture a 49-24 win over D’Evelyn. Senior Austin Duncan earned a double-double with 11 points and 13 rebounds. Next up, the boys took down Denver West 77-63 thanks to a couple of big scoring nights from the seniors. Caleb Fay led the way with 26 points, and Sam Glynn poured in 21.

Both teams now play Timnath for the chance to compete for a state title. The girls play first Friday at 11 a.m. at the Denver Coliseum, with the boys game following at 12:45 p.m. The 4A state championship games, should Kent Denver advance, would be Saturday, March 14 at 10 a.m. (girls) and 11:45 a.m. (boys).

Tickets are available online. Come on out to the Coliseum and cheer on our Sun Devils as both teams pursue a state championship!
