Boys Tennis Returns to State Championship

Boys Tennis Returns to State Championship

The Kent Denver boys tennis team is one victory away from its fifth consecutive team state championship! After beating D’Evelyn 5-2 in the semifinals on Tuesday, the No. 1 Sun Devils will now play against No. 2 Colorado Academy this coming Tuesday, October 21 at 12:15 p.m. at Denver Tennis Park in the CHSAA 4A Team State Championship. It’s a rematch of last year’s state title showdown, which Kent Denver won 4-2.

Before team competition, however, our players are vying for individual state titles Thursday through Saturday, taking place at Pueblo City Park Tennis Courts. Good luck to Noah ’27 (No. 1 Singles); Liam ’26 (No. 2 Singles); Vyaan ’28 (No. 3 Singles); Reid ’26 and Levi ’27 (No. 1 Doubles); Jake ’29 and Noah ’29 (No. 2 Doubles); Ollie ’27 and Sohan ’27 (No. 3 Doubles); and Suleman ’26 and Danny ’26 (No. 4 Doubles) at the CHSAA 4A Individual State Tournament!

Last week, the Kent Denver field hockey team won another game in overtime—the third of the season!—in a 2-1 victory over Denver East. Next up is a huge matchup against Cherry Creek Thursday at 4 p.m. at the Stutler Bowl in a battle of the top two ranked teams in the state.

KDS Volleyball team celebrating

The KDS volleyball team notched a big 3-2 win last Thursday against Eagle Ridge. The team is back in action Thursday at Jefferson Academy at 6 p.m., where a win would improve the Sun Devils to 9-9 on the season.

Football is now ranked No. 2 in Class 2A after beating Englewood 36-7 on Saturday, improving its record to 6-0 on the season. The Sun Devils play next at Bennett Friday at 7 p.m.

Our boys soccer team earned a big 1-0 victory over Forge Christian last Thursday to improve to 5-4-3 on the season. The Sun Devils, who are now ranked No. 7 in Class 3A, play again Thursday at 4 p.m. at No. 4-ranked Jefferson Academy.

KDS Cross Country team

After the Metro League Championships last week, our cross country team has the week off to prepare for regionals at Monument Valley Park on Thursday, October 23 at 3 p.m.

With the fall season heating up and lots of postseason competition around the corner, be sure to stay tuned to our Schedules & Scores page for the latest updates surrounding Kent Denver’s sports teams. Here’s to finishing the year strong. Go Sun Devils!
