Boys Tennis Eyes More State Titles

Fresh off winning regionals last week and then earning another victory in the team state tournament on Tuesday, October 15, the Kent Denver varsity boys tennis team is closing in on more state titles to add to the program’s decorated history. Thursday morning, our Sun Devils kicked off first- and second-round competition of the 4A boys tennis individual state tournament at Pueblo City Park. The tournament concludes Friday, October 18 with the semifinals and finals.

Good luck to the following student-athletes as they pursue individual state titles in their respective categories: Nathan G. ’25 (No. 1 Singles), Will M. ’25 (No. 2 Singles), Max G. ’25 (No. 3 Singles), Noah B. ’27 and Liam O.’26 (No. 1 Doubles), Jack C. ’25 and Simon H. ’25 (No. 2 Doubles), Colton F. ’25 and Vyaan C. ’28 (No. 3 Doubles), and Reid C. ’26 and Cabot M. ’25 (No. 4 Doubles).

Following this week’s individual state tournament, Kent Denver will then compete in the 4A team state championship on Tuesday, October 22 at 12:45 p.m. at Denver Tennis Park. The Sun Devils swept Evergreen 7-0 in the semifinals earlier this week and will now go up against Colorado Academy in the finals for a chance to win the team’s fourth consecutive state championship.

The Kent Denver football team beat Englewood last week by a score of 37-27 to improve to 4-2 on the season. The Sun Devils play again Saturday, October 19 on DeSo Field against Bennett at 1 p.m.

In field hockey, the No. 5 ranked Sun Devils shut out Denver East 3-0 last week to improve to 8-5 on the year. Kent Denver is back in action Thursday, October 17 in a home matchup against Cherry Creek at 4 p.m. on Horn Family Field.

At the same time Thursday, our boys soccer team will be going up against Jefferson Academy over on DeSo Field. Coming off a 3-3 tie against Forge Christian last week, Kent Denver has yet to be defeated over the past month. Sitting at 7-4-1 on the season, the Sun Devils go into Thursday's game as the No. 6 ranked team in CHSAA’s 3A boys soccer rankings.

Later Thursday night, the Kent Denver volleyball team is traveling to Jefferson Academy for a 6:30 p.m. matchup. The Sun Devils will look to get back to .500 with a win.

In cross country, our girls team took second place out of eight teams at the Metro League Championships last week, finishing just one point behind first-place Jefferson Academy. Molly Z. ’25, however, came in first place individually—winning the 5k race at Anthem Park in Broomfield with a time of 20:12! Noelle M. ’27 (sixth place) and Penny K. ’28 (11th place) also had top-15 finishes. Our boys team finished eighth out of 10 teams. Maddox T. ’27 led the way, coming in 15th out of over 120 competitors with a time of 18:33.
