Alumni in Athletics & Wellness Panel Recap
Alumni in Athletics & Wellness Panel Recap
From numerous State Championships to the Scobie Institute for Wellness, athletics and wellness have long been integral to the Kent Denver experience. On Monday, we welcomed five highly accomplished alumni who have built careers in these fields to share their insights on reaching one’s full potential and finding fulfilling work. Moderated by Sarah MacDougall Hirshland ‘93, CEO of the U.S. Olympic and Paralympic Committee, the panelists featured:
- Melissa Gollick Streno ‘02, Clinical Sports Psychologist
- Marsha Harper ‘08, Head Women’s Soccer Coach at American University
- Trevon Hamlet ‘14, Program Director for Denver City Lax
- Daniel Hennes ‘15, CEO of Momentous Sports Partners
While the discussion was rooted in athletics, it expanded beyond sports to cover broader themes such as self-awareness, seizing opportunities, the power of asking for help, the role of values as a guiding compass, and the lasting lessons sports provide beyond the field. The panelists also reflected on how Kent Denver’s education, faculty and staff played a pivotal role in fostering their interests and shaping their professional paths into careers they love. Their experience underscores the school’s commitment to empowering students to pursue their passions by supplying them with the right resources and support at school and beyond. We are grateful to these alumni for their thoughtful perspectives and for engaging in such a meaningful conversation with our students.
