6th Graders Enjoy National Western Stock Show

The Class of 2032 got out of the classroom and into the stockyard this week as our entire group of 6th graders had the opportunity to visit the National Western Stock Show on Wednesday.

Students spent the morning exploring the grounds through guided rotations—learning about everything from farming and animal agriculture to the importance of water and life as a cowboy. The 6th graders were also immersed in Western art, connecting with Kent Denver alum Duke Beardsley ’88 and KDS parent Cora Wheeler, both of whom had artwork on display.

The day ended with the Pro Rodeo, where students watched bronc riding, steer wrestling, mutton bustin’ and more! Our students had a blast learning about the traditions of the biggest agricultural event in the state and how it ties into their study of Colorado history.
