Student Voice
Kent Denver provides incredible opportunities for Sun Devils to discover their voices and foster school spirit. Students interested in media write for our newspapers, design yearbook pages, report on athletics and much more. Explore each program below!
Kent Denver Sports Network
Cover the action. Build school spirit.
Kent Denver Sports Network (KDSN) is a student-run digital media opportunity for students who love sports and want to improve their broadcast journalism skills. This Upper School club gives students valuable experience in the roles of both reporter and photographer or videographer.
Students in the club are assigned to different varsity sports teams at Kent Denver, where they gather and share highlights and stories throughout the season.
Kent Denver Sports Network
KDSN gives students the skills to shoot and edit sports photos and videos, while managing social media platforms and learning what it means to be a sports media professional.
It also creates a fun and exciting environment for Kent Denver Athletics to build school spirit and fan support throughout the year!
Kent Denver Sports Network is amazing because it utilizes student voices to help build a greater sense of school spirit for our amazing sports teams! Dr. Gubitz is extremely supportive and always ready to help a student make a new idea come to life. It has created my passion for sports photography and helped our community bond over our athletics program!PARKER S. class OF 2025

Newspaper
Grow as a writer. Become a reporter.
For nearly 50 years, The Sun Devils' Advocate has operated as Kent Denver’s official student-run newspaper. Upper School student reporters work together to develop story ideas, interview sources, capture and collect photos, write and edit features, and design pages for this monthly publication.
From school news to sports, global issues, arts and entertainment, pop culture, student features and so much more, students learn valuable writing and reporting skills that serve them well in college and beyond.
Kent Denver Newspaper
In 2023, Kent Denver launched its first Middle School newspaper—The Sun Devils’ Scoop. Published once each semester, The Scoop features middle school sports updates, faculty and staff features, op-eds and more.
This elective is a terrific opportunity for students interested in writing, and it also serves as great training for those who hope to one day join and lead The Advocate in positions such as section editors, copy editors and editors-in-chief.
I love walking into Sun Devils' Advocate meetings because they’re always full of people who’ve carved time out of their schedules to work on something that really matters to them. Over the past few years, the magazine has made huge progress, and it’s been incredible to be a part of that transformation. I’ve learned how to write, edit, design, and lead, and I’ve had so much fun doing it!KENLEY E.CLASS OF 2025

Yearbook
Capture the moments. Create lasting memories.
Each year, our dedicated Yearbook staff works together to create the school yearbook, The Spark.
As part of this Upper School club, students choose the yearbook theme, write content, take and collect photos, interview community members, design page layouts and so much more!
Kent Denver Yearbook
With special written features, photos from every class, senior spotlights and funny anecdotes throughout the year, the school yearbook is a terrific way for students to highlight everything that makes the Kent Denver experience so extraordinary.
All students and faculty receive a complimentary copy of the yearbook.
I joined the yearbook team as a sophomore, never expecting to go very far with it. However, I immediately loved creating the pages and developing the book. Now, as an Editor in Chief, my favorite part is choosing the theme for the year and finding ways to incorporate it into every aspect of the book. The entire yearbook staff and community has been a pleasure to work with, and I will miss it immensely when I leave.sally c. class of 2024

Paper Wings
Highlight the arts. Promote creativity.
Students in Paper Wings publish an annual magazine to highlight the incredible work of student artists and writers throughout the school year. They spend time reading, discussing and editing written submissions, and they select and format the poetry, prose and artwork for print in the spring.
Paper Wings
In addition to creating an amazing literary magazine, students in this Upper School club also sponsor themed creative writing and art contests throughout the academic year to encourage student creativity and grow an appreciation for art in the community.
Paper Wings meetings are a fun, relaxing time for volunteer student staff members to celebrate the creative endeavors in our community outside the context of grades and class assignments. Editors simply enjoy art and writing, while discussing with friends what makes an interesting work.Jon Fortmiller Art Teacher
