Second Annual Pitch Competition Rewards Student Entrepreneurs
Student entrepreneurs went head-to-head, pitching their product ideas to a panel of judges for the chance to win cash prizes.
At the conclusion of every fall and spring semester, Kent Denver hosts the Innovation Symposium: Student Agency, which highlights the work of Innovation Scholar and Independent Study students through a gallery of poster presentations. For the fall 2024 edition, more than 60 Middle and Upper School students presented their projects, which encompassed a wide range of student interests, from music and literature to engineering and science.
The night wrapped up with Kent Denver’s second annual Innovation Creation Competition, an initiative created and led by senior Max G. In the competition, judges Melissa Cheong, Ken Gart and Phil Klein received 5-minute “pitches” from students in Cody Candler’s Entrepreneurial Thought and Action class and chose the best ideas for first and second-place prizes.
Congratulations to Lyla E. ’26, Duncan P. ’26 and Axel Y. ’28 for winning the Innovation Creation Competition with their innovative food brand, SaFeed, which seeks to provide recovery nutrition products for patients with orthorexia. They were awarded $200 in funding for their first place finish. Elizabeth H. ’28 and William S. ’28 placed second and won the Audience Choice Award for their company, AquaSage, which focuses on water quality monitoring. Their combined prizes totaled $150 of additional funding to develop their company.
