Kent Denver’s 102nd Commencement was a memorable one, as we gathered together in Chenery Amphitheatre in late May to celebrate the amazing Class of 2024.
Giving the faculty address this year was KDS alum and current history teacher Lee Barrow '03. Having once been on the receiving end of such a speech in that same space two decades prior, he delivered his words to the departing seniors with both humor and sincerity.
“Remember that you are not a number or a letter, an acceptance or a rejection,” Mr. Barrow said in his address. “You are a person. In just a few months, your memories of the times you were perfect in high school will fade. But your creative moments will remain. And I hope you’ll remember the ideas you came up with and not the terminology you memorized.
“Be creative people and not perfect numbers. And don’t let the speed bumps in life slow you down for more than a second.”
