Track & FieldWhile supporting athletes in the pursuit of their goals—personal and team-oriented, short-term and long-term—the Kent Denver Track & Field program aims to create leaders in the community.
Kent Denver believes that team success at the high school level isn’t just about success in competition. It's also about character development and personal growth. Through our comprehensive program, we give young athletes the tools they need to live healthy, balanced lives through speed, agility and endurance work, strength and conditioning training, proper form technique, mindfulness practice and more.

Ahead of the spring 2025 season, Kent Denver welcomed David Cohen as the new head coach and leader of the school’s 6-12 track and field program. Continuing a coaching career that spans three decades—including stints as the head track and field coach at Thomas Jefferson High School and an assistant at Florida State University—his first season with the Sun Devils was a huge success. Both KDS teams finished in the top 10 at state, with the boys team taking seventh and the girls placing eighth. KDS athletes also took home five individual state titles in the 200m and 400m dash, the 100m and 300m hurdles, and the 110m hurdles. Two Sun Devils—Dylan K.'26 and Alex H.'26—were even named CHSAA Athletes of the Year.
The year prior, Kent Denver track & field athletes earned a combined six top-10 finishes at the state championship meet. In 2022, Kent Denver's 4x800m girls relay team took 4th in the state championship meet with a new school record time. That same year, Amanda Licht '22 also finished 4th in the discus throw and 2nd in the shot put. In 2018, our runners won state in the boys 100-meter and 200-meter sprints.
Several Sun Devil track & field athletes have also gone on to find success at the collegiate level in sprints, middle distance and jumping events.
