Chris Tierney joined Kent Denver’s baseball program as head coach in the 2025-26 season. A multi-sport athlete and 1994 graduate of Kent Denver School, Coach Tierney lettered in four varsity sports during his time at KDS and helped lead the baseball team to its 1993 state championship.
“The Kent Denver community and the school's baseball program has been an important part of my life. I began as a bat boy in 1987, before having the privilege to play for the Sun Devils on the great teams of 1993 and 1994,” he said. “Being named the program's next head coach is an honor for me and my family. It is an opportunity that I will meet with enthusiasm and great pride. Our goal is to utilize the sport of baseball to aid in the development of young men of character and genuine self confidence, while representing the Kent Denver community in a positive manner. Let's get to work!”
After graduating from Kent Denver, Coach Tierney went on to play baseball at Lafayette College in Easton, Pennsylvania. He then returned to Colorado and founded the Denver Metro Stars baseball club, a summer and fall baseball program focused on the development and showcase of high school athletes. The success of the program led La Junta High School to recruit Coach Tierney to be the team’s head coach at just 26 years old. He helped guide the Tigers to a state championship appearance in 2003.
After taking a few years off from coaching, Coach Tierney returned in 2024 as the JV head baseball coach at Regis Jesuit High School, where he led the program to a 15-3 record in 2025. He’s excited to continue his coaching career at his alma mater.
