Students can join the Jazz Combo, Quincy Ave. Rhythm Band, Soul'd Out, MS R&B Band and/or the Azucartones. Our student musicians study the music and history of the great composers from Charles Mingus to Stevie Wonder, John Coltrane to Celia Cruz, Aretha Franklin to Tito Puente and more.

Kent Denver students perform locally at venues including KUVO radio, Sports Authority Field, KGNU radio, Wash Park Grille, Capitol Hill People’s Fair, Dazzle Jazz Club, elementary, middle and high schools, and the Wynkoop’s Fat Tuesday celebration. In addition, our ensemble members take trips each year to learn more about the musical culture of a city, and to attend an assortment of clinics and concerts. In the past, we’ve visited and performed in:

Montreux, Switzerland
Porretta, Italy
Havana, Cuba
New Orleans, LA
Los Angeles, CA
Memphis, TN
New York, NY
Miami, FL
and more!

Throughout the year, all of our ensembles and combos perform on and off campus. Auditions are required for all ensembles and combos, and students may perform in the same group throughout their time at Kent Denver. Learn more about our ensembles below!
