Music at Kent DenverWith several award-winning ensembles, performance classes and more, Kent Denver's Contemporary Music Program is for any student interested in picking up a new instrument or expanding on existing skills.
With an on-campus recording studio and expansive rehearsal/performance spaces, Kent Denver has one of the most advanced secondary music education suites in the mountain west. Our diverse faculty is committed to educating and producing knowledgeable, well-rounded student musicians.
We believe that while we can instruct students on the mechanics of their instrument and performance, we should also give them as many opportunities as possible to realize those skills in front of an audience in a real-world setting. As a result, our students have performed at venues across Colorado and around the globe!
Upper School
In Kent Denver's Upper School music classes, students take creative creative control of the band formation and performance process. Students name their ensembles, create branding, select songs and hone their performance skills with the guidance of our experienced music teachers—all of whom are professional musicians!
Middle School
In addition to the Art Survey Course in 6th grade, students will take a semester of instrumental and vocal music focusing on fundamental musicianship, music literacy, theory, history and performance. In 8th grade, students have the opportunity to take a semester of music—expanding their musicianship skills—and they're also able to join an elective focused on contemporary music skills, with a special emphasis on piano, drums and guitar.
