KENT DENVER INTRODUCES 2020-21 DEI PLAN
On July 31, President of the Board of Trustees Sarah Anschutz '89, Head of School Rand Harrington and Director of Equity and Community Engagement Jason Mundy presented the framework for a comprehensive Diversity, Equity and Inclusion (DEI) plan for the school.
In subsequent weeks, students, parents, alumni, teachers, staff, Trustees and nationally-recognized DEI professionals recounted personal experiences, offered their perspectives on Kent Denver's diversity-related strengths and weaknesses, shared DEI best practices from schools and businesses, and dedicated dozens of hours to review the 2020-21 Diversity, Equity and Inclusion plan that is being presented to the community at-large today.
"The murder of George Floyd galvanized our community to an extent I've never seen before to support a common goal: Transform Kent Denver into an anti-racist school and ensure our community is inclusive and welcoming to all," Mr. Mundy says. "The 2020-21 DEI plan outlines the measurable steps we must take this school year to fulfill that directive."
The Equity and Community Engagement team will provide periodic progress updates on the DEI website page. Members of the KDS community are encouraged to use the feedback form on the DEI page to share their thoughts. Please note: While every comment will be read, the Equity and Community Engagement team cannot promise a personal response to each message.
