Financial Aid: An Investment in Our Community

With an annual financial aid budget of more than $4 million, Kent Denver devotes significant resources to serving students from all financial backgrounds. Tuition assistance is particularly important now, with the pandemic impacting both health and employment for many current and prospective families.

"Kent Denver's mission is transforming lives of students and community through extraordinary educational experiences, and we cannot do that without investing significantly in financial aid," says Head of School Rand Harrington. "Particularly during these challenging economic times, we know that financial aid is key to making Kent Denver accessible to strong and highly motivated students from a range of socio-economic backgrounds."

One Family's Financial Aid Story
"Our family had not even considered Kent Denver as an option because the cost was simply out of reach for our budget," a Class of 2022 parent recently wrote. "It was not until a friend suggested that the middle school might be a good fit for our son and that financial assistance might be available that we decided to give it look."

After visiting the school and learning all that it has to offer students, the family knew they needed to at least give their child the opportunity to apply.

"Once our son was accepted, the process for receiving financial assistance was easy and completely confidential. He is now a junior in high school, and has been awarded a generous scholarship every year since he started in sixth grade. We are so grateful for the amazing education he is receiving at Kent Denver."

More about Financial Aid at Kent Denver
Nearly 27% of Kent Denver's students received financial aid this year, with grant amounts ranging from $2,000 up to full tuition awards that can include books, laptop fees, transportation, travel and other incidental expenses.

"At Kent Denver, financial aid awards are based solely on an applicant's financial need," says Associate Head of School Jerry Walker. "We try to make the process as easy as possible by using a simple, online application and by offering information sessions and individual help to families as they are submitting their information."

Although financial aid applications are accepted during the admission process, Kent Denver evaluates applicants on a "need blind" basis. This means that the admission committee does not take financial aid status into consideration while deciding whether or not to admit an applicant.
