 | Our Program Community Service Kent Denver School believes that service to others is crucial to the pursuit of "excellence in scholarship and character." Our strong commitment to community service is reflected in the fact Kent Denver students provide more than 15,000 volunteer hours to the community each year. Kent Denver's community service programs are structured as follows:
Middle School Middle schoolers provide service to the community through their advisor groups. Beginning in the sixth grade, advisor groups provide weekly support to a local homeless shelter. Seventh and eighth grade students work with their advisors to provide service during several designated days each year. Each May, all middle school students participate in the Kent Denver "a-thon" fundraiser.
Upper School In the upper school, ninth and tenth grade students volunteer with their advisor group three or four times a year in a variety of venues.
During the eleventh and twelfth grades, students are required to pursue self-directed community service initiatives. Individual volunteer projects contribute toward a minimum of 60 hours over two years with accounting through the community service coordinator. These hours are a part of the graduation requirement, and only 15 hours of credit may be earned in a Kent Denver school volunteer activity.
Most volunteer hours are during the junior year, and choices for projects might be based on previous service program experience. The community service coordinator assists with programs and placements at each grade level.

of different service organizations and by partnering with many of
Denver's at-risk schools and students. Collectively, students at Kent
Denver perform more than 15,000 hours of community service each year,
and the school is particularly dedicated to working with Denver Public
Schools students to support quality education at every school. In
short, Kent Denver School is committed to making the greater Denver
