Golf

The Kent Denver's girls' golf team is one of the largest in the Metro area. The Sun Devils won a state title in the 2005-06 season and are familiar with playing at a championship level, finishing as the 3A state tournament runner-up in 2018 and 2019 and the 3rd-place team in 2022.

The team is led by Head Coach Jim Hackett, who joined Kent Denver after 14 years of experience at the Division I and Division II collegiate levels.

His coaching philosophy of "100% support for 100% effort" emphasizes the importance of hard work and dedication—characteristics that translate to golf and life. "The highest compliment that can be paid to Coach Hackett is that he is loved by all of his players," said one former player.

Coach Hackett looks forward to an exciting future for the Sun Devils girls' golf program.

Mr. Hackett joins KDS with 14 years of experience at the Division II and Division I collegiate levels. As head coach at the University of Akron, he took four teams to the NCAA Division II finals, organized the Ohio Valley Conference championship tournament, developed six players who went on to be PGA professionals, had one NCAA Division II All American and inducted four former players into the University of Akron Hall of Fame.

 "I'm thrilled to welcome Jim to our coaching staff," Mr. Hollway says. "His coaching philosophy of '100% support for 100% effort' is exactly what we were looking for in our next program leader. I received a note from one of his former players that said, 'the highest compliment that can be paid to Coach Hackett is that he is loved by all of his former players.' We are lucky to have him lead our program."
